This tool allows you to customize Windows and Internet Explorer to work together in kiosk mode. This means you can disable the Windows desktop, taskbar, and some special key combinations, like Ctrl+Alt+Del. You can also configure Internet Explorer's layout and behavior, disabling many of its features. This way you can force you PC users to use Internet Explorer and/or to visit your website only.
The program is lightweight and offers a very simple user interface. However, it runs in the system background - totally in stealth mode - and you will need to press Alt+Shift+S to show or hide the program's configuration window. Secure Lockdown does not install any icons in the system tray area, and you will not be able to see it in the Windows Task Manager or in the taskbar either. The program allows you to set an access password, for you to be the only person who can enable, disable or configure this tool.
In the configuration window you can enable or disable all the system and Internet Explorer options you want. These include the special keys, the desktop, the log-off or shutdown, the help and support, as well as the Internet Explorer favorites, its command bar, status bar, open dialog, printing capabilities, and its private browsing, to name but a few. Besides, you can also create a list of the allowed websites your users can visit.
Finally, you can also create a list of the support applications that will run while Secure Lockdown is enabled. No other applications will be allowed to run. This is a very useful feature when you need to use an on-screen keyboard when working with a touch screen, for example. Once your entire configuration is ready, you can enable Secure Lockdown to turn your PC to kiosk mode.
